Homemade Cleaning Equipment

Homemade Cleaning EquipmentMaking your own cleaning equipment can save you a lot of money. Besides it is a good way to recycle stuff that you would otherwise just throw away. Making your own cleaning equipment makes you a ‘green’ lover as you will use homemade equipment that is environmentally friendly.

Toothbrush

Old toothbrushes make really good cleaners for edges where the cleaning cloths can’t reach. Faucets, handles, taps, edges of countertops, mirrors and window pane edges are cleaned best with a toothbrush. Tooth brushes can be used for quite a while till the bristles wear down completely. They clean thoroughly and as well as specialty brushes and are definitely much cheaper.

Sprays

Any narrow-headed bottle can be made into a spray bottle for holding your household cleaners. The bottle can be made of plastic or glass like sauce or soft drink bottles. Just buy a spray cap for the bottle, replace the cork or cap with the spray cap and it works quite well. If you have been using spray bottles for foods or cleaners then don’t discard them instead refill them with home cleaners and label them correctly so the wrong cleaner is not used.

Duster

You can make a duster at home with old undergarments, vests and panties. Just cut the old undergarments into thin strips of about half an inch wide and half a foot long. Take a sturdy stick about a foot long and tie up the strips securely around one end of the stick. The finished duster will look like a broom end or hair on a rag doll’s head. Now use this as you would a feather duster to remove dust from surfaces. Once this duster is worn out make another. Your undergarments are generally made of soft material and so they make a good duster for dusting off dust from decoration pieces, paintings, computer screens and desktops

Cobweb broom

If you have a broom that has worn out and does not clean floors well then don’t discard it. You can turn that broom head into a cobweb broom. Alternatively you can get a long stick, or a lightweight metal rod that you don’t use. Secure the broom head onto the long-handled rod or stick with some thin wire and use it for removing cobwebs from hard to reach heights. You can take a rod that is long enough to reach heights. Alternatively you can make a cobweb cleaner like you made the duster, only one is on a short stick and other on a long rod.

Homemade mop

If you have an old broom that you want to discard then turn it into a mop. Get some microfiber cloth about 1×1 foot. Cut off the worn down broom end, bunch up the microfiber cloth on end and secure it at the end of the old long handled broom. You can now use this microfiber mop to absorb spills. Alternatively you can use your old terry towels in place of microfiber. Old terry cloth absorbs spills better than microfiber. This article was brought to you by guys from Tiddox.
